Use the office that maintains the Avery County record being requested:

- Police incident reports: the police department or other agency whose officer created the report
- Expunction filings: Avery County Clerk of Superior Court for the court record and filing process
- Registry records: North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry, with local accuracy reports directed to Avery County Sheriff
The two local counters are not interchangeable. Use Avery County Sheriff's Records Unit at 300 Shultz Circle for sheriff-created and booking material.
